# Appointment reminders

> How to configure automated appointment reminders for your customers.

Appointment reminders help reduce no-shows by notifying customers before their appointment. CalGest sends reminders automatically based on your configuration.

## How reminders work

When an appointment is created or confirmed, CalGest schedules reminder notifications based on the timing offsets you've configured. For example, if you set up a 24-hour and 1-hour reminder, the customer receives two messages before their appointment.

## Configuring reminder timing

Go to **Settings > Notifications** and find the **Appointment reminder** section. You can add multiple reminder offsets:

| Example offset | When the reminder is sent |
| -------------- | -------------------------------- |
| 24 hours | One day before the appointment |
| 2 hours | Two hours before the appointment |
| 1 hour | One hour before the appointment |

<Tip>
  A common setup is to send a reminder **24 hours before** and another **1 hour before** the appointment. This gives customers time to prepare and a last-minute nudge.
</Tip>

## When reminders are cancelled

Reminders are automatically cancelled when:

* The appointment is **cancelled**
* The appointment is **rescheduled** (new reminders are created for the new time)

This ensures customers never receive reminders for appointments that no longer exist or have moved.

## Reminder channels

Reminders follow your notification settings — they can be sent via SMS, in-app, or both, depending on what you've enabled for the **Appointment reminder** event type.
